Overview
Consultation is a key aspect to gain consensus for the proposed options and the successful delivery of a future flood scheme. As such the project team has engaged with key stakeholders at various periods and will continue to engage with statutory stakeholders and the public throughout any scheme development.
The following consultation events have been held:
- Early consultation with Community Councils to present the project and initial flood maps (Dec 2017 - Jan 2018).
- Stakeholder engagement with statutory stakeholders and Council departments (May 2018).
- Public consulation (Autumn 2018).
Further consultation and stakeholder groups are likely to be initiated, particularly when a preferred scheme has been identified and Council decisions have been made and agreed with SEPA to take forward a Flood Protection Scheme. At this point, more detail on the design of flood defences is required and consultation on specific aspects will be undertaken.
